The first day of the journey starts early. In order 4:45 clock we could be waked, and in order the taxi stood before the house at 5:40 clock to drive us to Frankfurt airport . The flight to Heathrow already did not go without delay. In London it was oppressive and rainy. The time up to the bording The CN-Tower in Toronto was dragging and it was cold in terminal 4 . Also the flight to the final destination Toronto retarded around one hour.
The seats in the airplane prepare me agonies, I can't sit longer.
Already before 25 years I wanted to have been here, but that is another Story.
We had already given the suit-cases up the previous evening. Not in vain it is only a Stone's throw to the airport.
Contrasts in TorontoI I already looked at the weather in the northwest of Canada. The forecast gives almost the same heat wave as well as it in the moment in Germany prevails.
How in the last trip after Canada accompanies us again Julia.

The taxi of the airport to the hotel in Toronto cost had 20 $ and the change which I had from the last trip.
After we had made fresh ourselves, we are going after Downtown Toronto. Toronto After 45 minutes!!! were we there. On the Yonge street, we found some shops where we could let our money.

Against 13:30 clock, we were picked up of Cruise Canada to take our motorhome. This procedure lasted until 16:00 clock, after that shopping for the next days, and then finally drive to Niagara Falls.
On the KOA Campground , we quartered for two nights and booked tours to the falls.

Wednesday 11. August
The American falls and the Rainbow Bridge At the Niagara falls, The waiter edge of the Horseshoe Fallwe made the day tour and the night tour. How we seen later, this day became placed a challenge.
Our Guide picked up us at the campground in order to gather in a tour through the hotel quarter a few more people.
The first destination was the Bridal Veil fall on the US side. In addition we must, as the only European, keep entry determinations of the USA. my five year old Visa had still validity!
The smaller of the American falls In a dresses issuance, we got a rain-poncho and waterproof sandal. Our foot garment brought the Guide to the custody into the bus. over an elevator and a stairway of we arrived the smallest waterfall. On the small plainly was guaranteed that we became wet.
In the restaurant of the Sheraton hotel on Canadian side, we were led at the Buffet, to strengthen with look around to the falls.
After lunch we had time to distribute the money with full hands in the giftshops .
The very best of the day tour was presented at the end.
Our Guide is clever like a fox what concerns the trip with the Maid of the Mist He positioned us in the waiting line that we stood ahead at the bow of the ship, and we had so the best visibility. Niagara in Canada
Also here the motto was: "get wet" therefore I can't present pictures.
After the day tour and the return to the motor home, remained us only little time for some relaxing and a small snack. The bus picked up us again to an after tour. Here were shown us the less spectacular sights of Niagarafalls. Worthwhile they were already. Next Highlight were overfilled catacombs behind the Horseshoe fall. The noise is to be sensed at leaving of the elevator, it is impress which force contain in the water curtain. The Skylontower offers at night a good overview over Niagara double sidet of the boundary and on the illuminated waterfalls, do not be unconditional my thing - too high.

Saturday 14. August
Our MotorhomeLast night it rained again, it's enough. Amply early we started at this day and got first 130 liters of gas for the day. Into the tank should go 145 liters. We are almost without stopping drived until North Sidney. In this beach, I could not resist Between we had to grasp yet once gas.
At the boundary to Nova Scotia, in a Visitorscenter, we booked the night ferry around 23:00 clock after Port aux Basques. All here appeared easier, only English is spoken (not french). It did not give berths on the ferry, only beds. Before North Sidney, we found a beautiful place where I am swim in the sea. In order to shorten the wait on the night ferry, we did not know about a god passage, for it very windy, we rested something.
our Motorhome Shortly before 21:00 clock, a ranger came to close the gate to this restarea. To the good fortune, he let previously know and we gone on the way to ferry.
How in a youth hostel two below and two above, were arranged the beds on the ship. Both women lay a corner further. The night was hard, the guy that slept underneath me must have been lumberjack. He snored like a lumberjack. Somewhere would certify me a raw being, if I repeat what I would have made in this night with him.

Sunday 15. August
Dog follower of a Harley for Belle Waterfall at the sea It was contrary to my expectation a quiet passage. On a restarea in Newfoundland, we meeted again the motorcyclists with the dogtrailer. Even a sun roof was built in the steel-dogtrailer.
The weather had changed itself, it was cool at this early morning, and the sun promised a beautiful day.
Cliffs at the see This beautiful Place at the see we used for a small reconnaissance. Long valley at Gros Morne National Park
How it had proved itself, we misjudged in the stretch to be gone in this vacation. The planned time on this beautiful island would become somewhat tight. The streets are to be mastered with the almost 10 meter of long vehicle only slowly. In a departure in the Gros Morne National Park the long vehicle mounted behind on the street. Everyone turned around, and I had to look over even whether yet all is in order.

L'Anse aux Meadows, view at Belle Island and Labrador This day we have the most far destination of the vacation. Vikinger-settlement L' Anse aux Meadows belongs to the world culture heir and is defended of the UNESCO
InL'Anse aux Meadows we visited the Vinking-settlement. Each Scandinavia driver knows the tools from Europe. The buildings differ of which in Europe only few. They are smaller and not so massively constructed. The settlement served as more strategically outside L'Anse aux Meadows, Blick auf Belle Island und Labradorpost and trade station. Viking-settlement L' Anse aux Meadows belongs to the world culture heir and is defended of the UNESCO
At the entrance to this park, standsa Bronce-plastic created by artists. The plastic shown at the left site a whale, the head income of this settlement, and at right site a Viking-ship with swollen sails in the storm.
Against evening, we drove back at this vacation. After few kilometers, we found a quite lain trailer park directly at the sea. Not very demanding, but we had a good prospect for the mainland of Labrador.

Tuesday 17. August
Leuchtturm This morning it was obvious, The motorhome we can't drive the planned route until to St. John' s, in the East of Newfoundland. We were with the booked kilometers already far in the residue. The way to Toronto becomes not shorter, the further way therefore too far away. Also the time getting shorter.
We began therewith to take somewhat more time and drove to Port au Choix, the place which where bones found. CliffsThe remnants are hid in a museum. On that we had this day no desire Klippenand drove to the lighthouse Point Riche.
Here are a three kilometer long trail along the cliffs to Phillip's Garden. It was worthwhile to see the cliffs.
On the expanse trip, we saw yet further reef that we here never would assumed.
cliffs
The shipwreck of the SS Ethie gave us occasion to a further stop. The ruins lie beneath the street at the beach. To be recognized are the steam boiler and parts of the drive.

On a chalkboard are written:
S.S. Ethie Shipwreck
The S.S. Ethie coastal steamship ran aground in a fierce storm on December 11, 1919 at Martin's Point, a few kilometres north of Sally's Cove. Luckily all of the 92 passengers and crew were saved, including a baby sent ashore in a mailbag.
The sea has eroded most of the S.S. Ethie, however a few pieces of the hull, the boilers and engines are still visible from shore.

"Wreck of the Steamship Ethie"

For this night, we found the "Blow me down Provincial Park" with a campground in Lake Harbour.

We will spend the next night again on the ferry. Unfortunately we must leave this island.
The last destination was the Lighthouse in cape Anquille. From here arrives quickly at the harbour Port aux Basques. To use the time to the departure in the night of tried we on a parking lot at the Highway well and to sleep something.

Fortress of Louisbourg Fortress of Louisbourg Fortress of Louisbourg Fortress of Louisbourg

Fortress of Louisbourg Fortress of Louisbourg The ferry shrank at the early morning in North Sidney. We went to the refueling, what turned out at the end as valuable, to the Fortress of Louisbourg.

1768 The British army is drawn-off.
1928The fort is explained to that "Nationally Historic site".
1961 The Canadian government delegates the Rekunstruktion of 20% of the fort.
Lighthouse
As a conclusion, we went after the visit of the fort yet to the lighthouse on the other side of the bay. Here, the first lighthouse was constructed out of incombustible material in North America. The foundation wall of the old building are to be seen yet in direct vicinity of the new tower.

Story of the historic national park "Fortress Louisbourg"
In the peace of Utrecht, that concluded 1713 the Spanish succession war, Newfoundland became, as well as the largest part Arkadien of France at Great Britain lectured. Isle Royal (today cape Brenton) and Isle Saint Jean (today Price Edward Iceland) remained use the single French possessions in Canada of current Atlantic region, the French use these islands as an exit basis for its lucrative cod fishery in the waters of the large Newfoundland bank.

1719 began placed became it in Louisbourg with the building of a secured city, that 1745, hardly ready, also already belagert. Soon developed city and harbor settlement to a blooming community being.

The prosperity of the Isle Royal was to be attributed extensively the cod capture. At the beach of Louisbourg and its next to harbors, long rows stood of „reef" (wood stands), on which the fishes were salted and dried, before they came as a plain fish to the export.
Louisbourg developed to a trade center, that were finished products and others out of France, Quebec, that Caribbean and New England imported.
You should mean, this fort would have been each onset grown. The harbor was to be defended also well, but upcountry could be realized the most important reinforcement concern by low and partially doubtfully near hill chains out of - ideal locations for the guns of the besieger. The first attack resulted 1745 after France Great Britain had explained the war. When they had heard, let the fort be in deficient condition and the badly furnished garrison of the mutiny near, passed over the New Englands – fanatical like in a cross train – to the attack on Louisbourg. The fort had fallen already 46 days after the landing. To the disappointment of the New Englands, the city was returned already three years later in the Aachener peace at the Frenchn.

Louisbourg became 1758 then a second time beleaguers. Without the support of a strong fleet, it was not to be defended: a British army, that with 16000 men and 150 ships attack, conquered the fort in seven weeks, that extended wanted to prevent would become let grind that Louisbourg ever again a secured French base, and the fort ramparts abraded.

The reconstruction
The Canadian Federal Government began 1961 a 25 million dollars project with which about one-quarter of the original city and its reinforcements is supposed to be constructed again. In this area, buildings, patios, gardens and streets become again so produced how they, directly before the first siege of Louisbourg, looked at the time around 1740. Without scientific research, the reconstruction of Louisbourg would have been impossible: in archeological excavations, cable envoy of objects as well as the reason wall of fort concern and other buildings came to light; about 750000 sides at writing material as well as approximately 500 cards and blueprints copies in archives in France, England, Scotland, United States and Canada.
The historic writings mediate live a living impression of at that time in Louisbourg and form an outstanding base for the study of the French epoch in North America.

The historic drugstore in Sherbrooke Village The jail in Sherbrooke Village The jail in Sherbrooke Village The jail in Sherbrooke Village Because we were somehow already in the vicinity, we looked at Sherbrooke Village. These villages would have some jointly: they cost money and sell gifts. But each village The kitchens-stove in the doctors house in Sherbrooke Villagehas nevertheless its own story to tell. In this place, there was for example one, yet functioning, Das Naturzentrum telephone concern out of the last millennium.
The Drugstore has bottles and container with essence, oils and medicines that come out of this time . In the prison, you can see the cells, that were heated at least by smoke tubes. In the kitchen are baked cookies in the historic oven. In the appearance of the physician practice, I was happily to have not lived in this period.
The snow-pusher before the visitorsinformation In the nature store, there are to see stuffed animals butterflies and even living frogs.
Yet the time runs, and we must leave this nice place. In Halifax, the capital of Nova Scotia, should stand our RV in this night. In Musquodoboit, The Visitors Informationwe have visited the "Visitors Information". The nice lady supposed herself our questions and pointed out the way to a Campground. The attempt to book in a passage for the ferry after New Brunswick it failed, strangled. Also the search for a Hardrock cafe was is result loose, there neither.
Here yet once thank you very much at this lady and its colleague in Canada, that make a good job.

Saturday 21. August
The Caledonia The footpath through the harbor Halifax is named the San Francisco of the north. The city are lokated at a mountain. I concerned worries the subfloor of the motor home, but anything is fine.
Through the dense fog, we go to Halifax, it is not yet much traffic, and we find the parking lot at the Pier 23 quickly. On the footpath through the The footpath through the harborharbor meet us also hardly tourist, only a couple Rikschadriver, a photographer and a couple fisherman. The Townclock The Caledonia lies here on anchor. We can hardly see the island in the bay, only the lighthouse is to be recognized in the fog. Occasionally a fog horn is to be heard.
At the Visitorsinfo, we book the ferry after New Brunswick and get a map. The high-rises of the banks jut highly over the harbor. The first tourists emerge. We go to the citadel over the city. In the guide stands over the way there: "...The TownclockDownhill easy to go" thats right. Above the city is the Townclock. It became to built show the time around the citadel and the city. From here, you has a good visibility over the city, without fog.
This fort and three further existed to protect the trade ways and the harbor, that so arranged ditches, that was invisible from without. The first warriors fall in The Townclockit and the rear push after. In the ditch are embrasures to be shot the intruders.

The Townclock Since the foundation of Halifax 1749 four different forts stood here. To see the citadel as well as it today is, was completed 1856. The British garrison was drawn-off last 1906, because of the confused before the 1The island before that town with the lighthouse st world war in Europe. Further the fort was used of the Canadien military until it became a "national Historic site" at 1951.
In the harbor As "High noon" the canons discharged was that for us the signal to go. The fog had gone and gave look free at that the city. Now we were able to see how far we back to go to our RV. It was a long way.Peggys Cove
The day was broke as we go to the next detination, Peggys Cove. Here it gives ...., a lighthouse!
The rocks before the lighthouse Were a few more km until there and the street was not reflected us probably. The tears and blow holes were a strain. At the visitors information I became kindly on a closed off parking lot who manner. My first thought: "That comes and wants my money" no, the man of parks Canada are only simply friendly.
Foggy it was here, but there we here we go to look. A correctly sleepy fisherman place lay before us, still quiet (only Touris) only beautifully. The lighthouse stood too very in the fog and my memory for pictures finally to the slope, just as as the time this day. Back on the torture street, it is the return journey and we still have about 2000 km to drive, and a ferrytrip. The way led us away of the coast into the forests of Nova Scotia. So far no camping place and it's geting dark Peggys Covesoon. It was found however one and again thoughts came at the subfloor.Hard to find someone on the place. Did the woman that then come, made first once a loudspeaker major legend !???? No one came it and so had Peggys Covethe woman to seek a place with us - no plan. There were are only current and water, the sewage tanks not yet full. Strange people here. The water connection in our place must left for 2 places with a water cock, there we use in this night our ownon board pump. Our neighbor told that most people would here trapper and hunter, and we cleared immediately the thing with the cocksharing.
The storm raged were pulled always more violently, around us around strong planning over the tents and secured to the cars. In the night, a strong rain went down. That does not itch us, we sit dry.

Sunday der 22. August
My objections to sink on the wet grass with the 6.5 ton RV, were not confirmed to the fortune. The sewage tanks are both The ammunition depot of the fort Annapolisfull and want to be emptied fast.Annapolis Royal It gives no dumping-station here (remarkably) "perhaps in the park" nothing such are and further to the west coast of NS. The Highway 101 invites to drive that more quickly, and finally is permitted also again 100 km/h. I set the Cruise Control to 115 km/h, so that all trucks do not overtake me. In Bear Lake, we left the Highway again. There it gives a not yet know another fort in Annapolis. The weather had changed itself to the goods and loaded us once again to the shopping. There is T-Shirts, cafe itDer Leuchtturm in Digby etc. everywhere, but this place was compact and has a computer museum in a souveniershop (or reversed?) The room stands full of historic computers, very interesting. The "fort" is quite small and it stand also only few buildings, but it is a beautiful place to linger. This weekend the action "paint the village" and many painters sat here in the streets and painted white paper.
The bay entrance in Digby At the late afternoon, it pulled us further for Digby, our next ferryport. There an old married couple, both was found chewed any such thing. Dried lake seaweed it was. "Removed everything what with you assured does not agree" said the woman, "who that eat dies never, I live eternally" well good, we tied it. The salt taste let shudder me - if it makes beautifull.
We spent the remainder to the Bording on a parking lot, eat, sleep and rest. It gave beds no more on the ship.
The driveway out of the bay was spectacular and the clear sky brought a cold night and promised a beautiful day.
As we in the late evening drive in to Saint John, we go to the booked campground. The tanks are still full.

Thursday der 24. August
St Lorenz Today we go from NS through St Lorenz Qubeck at the St. Lorenz. In Qubeck city, there are the highest waterfalls of Canada. Previously we must find the way. The colloquial language is here French and strange to me. A time had seen the map of Qubeck city and drove out of the memory through the city. It was somewhat chaotic.
No, the waterfalls in Niagara are not the highest, but rather that in the Parc de la Chute Montmorency. They are with 83 St Lorenzmeters 30 meter higher than the Niagara-Falls (however not so spectacular).
With the rope train of reached we the falls comfortably also from above, St Lorenz and you may come down on a stairway again. We didn't that. We do not went down to the end of the vacation.
Montreal was the hell. At evenings on the campground was said to me that the Highway 20 would be better than the Townway 40 to drive. But we are in Ontario again and need no longer speek french.

It's located also not very far of the route in a cultivated park at the St Lorenz current. Out Of the bank you see the bank of the US on the other side. St Lorenz We seen there a saws mill
a grain mill that powered St Lorenzby a steam engine, a wool factory with spinning, a printing office, a cheese factory and a smith. At the bank of the St. Lorenz, there was a canal, in which a barge pulled by a horse is operated. There are further information on the homepages of Upper Canada Village.
